- Remove specimen reception bottlenecks
- Improve front office data entry throughput overnight
- Process request forms four times faster
- Improve positive patient identification and data accuracy
- Import data directly from handwritten request forms into LIMS
Neurascript is an automated system solution designed to capture and process data from paper request forms thereby bridging the gap between traditional paper requests and the browser-based order communications solution DART OCM.
The Neurascript system automatically sorts scanned request forms into discipline and format order and reads patient details, clinical information and even handwritten request forms. This results in character read- rates unsurpassed by any other system and significantly reduces the pre-analytical bottlenecks associated with data entry.
Through its unique completion application, Neurascript verifies that all patient details are present and at the same time checks that the document meets the unique validation rules. Any characters that are not read with a high degree of confidence are passed to an operator for intervention.
Finally, a completion module is used to key in any missing fields and to perform complex validation on the data. This provides a higher level of clinical governance than current processes and automatically finds forms that have not been filled in correctly and routes them to an exception queue for authorisation – originally a manual process.
Once completed, the system is able to deliver HL7* messages in all versions and the information is exported into the LIMS. The Neurascript system is capable of reading in excess of 5,000 forms per hour which has been shown to be four times faster than manual data entry, and results in significant time savings in the collection process.
